Slither

Well actually this Python has been christened "Justine" by Sonia who loves to allocate names. These photos were really blind shooting. I just love Nikon autofocus. Standing about a metre from the snake, in the garden in pitch dark and aiming my camera at where I thought the head was. And this is what you get! Not bad....

Beijing

I have been scanning in slides from when I was living in China. What a way to bring back memories! The Summer Palace was a place I virtually lived at as it was a short bike ride from where I was living. Here are layouts of Winter and Spring.

New Heritage Layouts and Freebies QP's

I love the Raspberry Road Victorian Bliss kit as it has so many papers and elements that are perfect for heritage layouts. The touch of pink/peach is just beautiful. These are 2 pages I created from the kit. The first shows my Grandad before he married my Grandma and the other is my Great Grandad's brother (or so I believe). I have created 2 quickpages from these layouts which are available as a free download on the Raspberry Road blog.

Raspberry Road Quick Page Freebie

Susan at RRD has been experiencing some very difficult times recently. In order to create more business for her wonderful products, the CT team are creating free quick pages daily. Today is my turn and I have created a page from my most recent layout featuring the wonderful "Boho Collection". If you like this quick page, please be sure to check out the full collection at RRD. The store is located here:
http://raspberryroaddesigns.blogspot.com/

This is another layout to add to my family heritage album.

The link to download the quick page is on the Raspberry Road Girls blog.

Please let me know what you think!

Grandma

I love scrapbooking but there are some layouts that I just love above others. This is one of my favourites and uses some papers from Raspberry Road that I adore. This is my Grandma as a young girl. Isn't she beautiful?

The journalling reads:
This photo was taken of my Grandma around 1920 when she was in her late teens. It is still 7 years before she marries my Grandad. She is the third of 4 daughters. Her only brother had been killed on the battlefields of France 2 years earlier. Her parents had separated. What dreams lie behind this face?

Heritage Layouts

I have always loved heritage layouts and especially the photos that people seem to find in trunks etc. Recently I was very lucky to obtain some old photos from my family and can now join in!! Here are a couple of recent layouts.

This layout is a scan of a wedding photo of my great grandparents in 1898. I just love the clothing and hats!

And this layout is a photo of my grandparents taken soon after their marriage. I love that this photo has just captured a fragment of an everyday moment.

For the love of one Horse

This is a layout of my daughters love of riding which occupied 2 years and then stopped with the death of the horse she loved. I have made this layout for her hoping that she will once again go back to riding even if only occasionally.

Journalling reads:

For a period of 2 years you lived, breathed and talked almost nothing but horses. You were reading all the Saddle Club books and just wanted to ride. You loved your lessons from the beginning and didn't mind waiting as you could then look around the stables. You rode different horses but by far your favourite was Born Free. "Bornie" had many scars and had been saved from an early death by the school. She was old, wise and very patient. Born Free died at the end of 2004. There were a few lessons after this but the magic had gone. I hope one day you ride again realising there are many horses in the world worth your love!

Finally over the flu!

Yes we are all basically back to normal at last although for the girls it has been difficult as school has just started as have all other activities. I guess it will take a month to settle in....

And I have had some time to complete some CT layouts.
This layout relates the story of how we adopted our Australia Terrier from the RSPCA. We are all lucky to have Harry join us.

Hemingway Collection

Susan of Raspberry Road Designs has come out with this wonderful kit named after her favourite author "Hemingway". I have always loved his work and especially the short stories (anyone remember "Hills like White Elephants") so as soon as I received the download links I wanted to create a layout. Named after such a monumental figure, the layout needed to be tied to travel and animals (Hemingway would not approve otherwise), so after a quick look through my travel photos this is what I came up with-

The main photo was taken from the back of an elephant. And if you have ever taken a photo from this position you will know just how difficult it is!

Complements to Susan and Hemingway!

Seven Wonders of my Life

Wonderful Maggie on our team at DSAG has posed this topic as the blog prompt for the week.

1. My 2 girls around whom my life is centred. They certainly make life interesting in unexpected ways.

2. My parents who are always just a phone call away.

3. My faith which gives me all the answers I need.

4. My home, garden and the 2 dogs which are my refuge from stress.

5. Gods creation which never ceases to amaze me. Flowers, mountains, sunsets, birds, rain .........

6. Living in Australia where I breath fresh air and drink clean water out of a tap.

7. New and old friends who are just a phone call or network away.

I could go on ....... But what are the wonders of your life?

New CT Layouts

Two new layouts for the Artisan Guild. 1959 was definitely a good year!
Sonia has just been allowed to start drinking coffee so the first layout documents this event.
My ankle is much better today and I tried driving which was OK but I am pleased that there is no work peak hour driving until next week! Yes I am lucky to be able to work from home for another week!

New Year and Resolutions .....

The header for the blog was created in June last year and the single entry remained until today when I found the delete key. A new year and resolution to maintain a blog - we will see how it goes!!!!

We spent Christmas and New Year with my parents and their dog which was absolutely wonderful. It is amazing just how a change of scene can be so relaxing. In fact I was so relaxed that upon my return I fell down the stairs and sprained my ankle. Taking down the decorations has now been postponed and so has the spring (summer???) cleaning resolution. My girls are not too upset!!!

The Guild has come out with another amazing kit this month - Creme De La Creme. Just perfect to scrap some photos that Dad took on his visit to WA last October. (Dad just click on link to Artisan Guild on right and you will be able to see comments about your photography!)
