Paislee Press is the featured designer for this months Artisan Notebook. She has generously given everybody who purchases the June issue this BEAUTIFUL kit!

Liz is also be sponsoring a challenge to create a 2 page layout using at least 2 items from this kit. She has some ideas on how to create 2 page layouts easily. Please check out this thread at the Guild for full details.

This is my layout:

For details on Guild membership and how to pick up copies of the Artisan Notebook follow this link.
Be sure to also mark the following date in your calendar for the chat with Liz at the Guild. And please bring some virtual cake as this will be my birthday! Actually apple struedel would be better...

Enjoy the rest of your week everyone. I’ll be posting tomorrow with an update on our diet as this will be the completion of 2 weeks.

Lunch out today

The girls are still on Summer holidays and we decided today to eat out for lunch. I got home from work at lunchtime and needed a break so what better than dragons, ducks and gluten free food.

Isn't he handsome? I love Eastern Water Dragons and this male (yes colour equals male) was really in prime plumage and showing off. He was sitting just next to our table. How wonderful to integrate nature into a restaurant! This is my photo for today and so easy to scrap.

I used this month's Guild Kit; credits here .

What have I been doing today?

Counting pixels!

The blog has not had a makeover for quite a while so I thought I would quickly update the elements. The trouble was I had forgotten all about padding and margins and whether padding is on the inside or out etc etc. Anyway it is now complete and I am happy with the result.

Here is an altered art layout created from the October kit at the Artisan Guild. Amber loves it as yellow is her favourite colour.

Can you believe that today is the first of October!

August Guild Kit - Lyrical Romance

I especially love the colours in this months Guild kit. And Debb has outdone herself in creating the beautiful clusters which really make putting a layout together very easy. You can find details on purchasing the kit here: http://www.digitalscrapbookartisanguild.com/guild/index.shtml

These are the kit previews and my first layout:

Still on track ...

Photographing fish in a fluroescent lit tank is definitely a skill. I tried the high ISO to be able to shoot at a reasonable speed but forgot to change the white balance. I'll try again later.

This orchid looks wonderful but with the trick of depth of field, you do not see the weed infested garden behind. With no hand watering for over 2 years, I am surprised it is still alive. Definitely an unexpected discovery.
And I decided to use one of my orchid photos to try a blended style layout. Not a bad result. I used the painted mask which was provided with this issue of the Notebook.

Have a great day everyone!

Some new layouts and a photo

Amy has just released a wonderful new kit which was perfect for my garden photos. (Found here: http://www.ndisb.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=65)

We have about 5 watermelons on the vine and I am really having difficulty trying to find out if they are ripe. I picked one earlier and was so disappointed after cutting it when I found it was white inside. So now I think I will wait until........

I love this photo of Sonia at the snow with her feet in my gloves. Her gumboots had filled with snow and feet were cold so here she is resting. This was the stage of shyness where you do not look at the camera.

And here is my photo for yesterday. I can't bear these brush turkeys as they are so ugly and chase you during nesting. OK I have only been chased once, but that was up my driveway.

Have a great day!

Beijing

I have been scanning in slides from when I was living in China. What a way to bring back memories! The Summer Palace was a place I virtually lived at as it was a short bike ride from where I was living. Here are layouts of Winter and Spring.

Credits are shown in the links.

Heritage Layouts

I have always loved heritage layouts and especially the photos that people seem to find in trunks etc. Recently I was very lucky to obtain some old photos from my family and can now join in!! Here are a couple of recent layouts.

This layout is a scan of a wedding photo of my great grandparents in 1898. I just love the clothing and hats!

And this layout is a photo of my grandparents taken soon after their marriage. I love that this photo has just captured a fragment of an everyday moment.
